Best headset for PC gaming – 2022 guide

How to choose the best headset for online or single player gaming for PC? There are a few great options out there.

1. Razer Kraken Pro V2 7.1

Razer makes a lot of great gaming gear, but unfortunately, headsets have never been their strong suit. However, they have fixed a lot of their mistakes with the new Razer Kraken headset and managed to make a pretty great gaming headset.

The sound quality on the Razer Kraken is undoubtedly incredible. Whether you want the 50mm or 40mm speakers, you will get great value for your money in term of pure audio quality.

The surround sound is superb and give you an edge in competitive fps gaming. The clear audio quality and the sharp surround sound makes it quite easy to detect your enemies movement and location in games such as CS: GO.

If bought in the Chromaversion, this headset grants some great LED customization, which is rarely seen with headsets. This feature is not something we were too excited about thou to since you rarely ever look at your headset. This feature is are only ever useful if you are looking to make a full LED gaming setup or something like that. if that is the case, then the Razer Kraken would be a beautiful addition to just that.

There is only one negative thing to say about the Razer Kraken, sadly it is a big one. The comfort is pretty bad and can prove to be a major issue when gaming for hours on end. You don’t notice anything if you play for an hour or 2, but anything more and it is a problem. it feels like the ear cups are simply too small, they fit very tightly around your ear and can be very irritating.

Specifications:

  • Fully retractable microphone
  • Chroma LED customization
  • Razer Synapse software
  • USB
  • Synchronizable with Razer products

2. Sades SA902 7.1

The SA902 is not as huge and filled with features as most Sades headsets, but they have kept the most important factors. What i personally really enjoyed about this one, is the slick, simplistic design.

This headsets strongest feature is definitely its microphone. The microphone has a very clear sound, and it almost doesn’t pick up on any background noise. So with this headset, you have great possibilities of great co-op team play with your online friends, without annoying them with all kinds of background noise.

in addition, it is also extremely adjustable, it literally fits you no matter if you have a very tiny or very large head size. This is due to the slim, lightweight design and the fact that it can be adjusted in every way you see fit.

As with most headsets in this price class with a 7-1 surround sound system. It is not perfect. However, it will do a decent job at locating your enemies when playing in a first person shooter environment. Which is what most gamers want out of their surround sound.

3. HyperX Cloud Stinger

HyperX is notoriously known for their HyperX Cloud gaming headset. Mostly because of it is widely considered one of the best headsets out there, it is certainly one of the most popular among gamers. This headset is its little brother, which manages to tune everything down a bit, while still performing admirably.

Of course, we were not expecting too much when purchasing this budget headset. But it was indeed a very pleasant surprise. It goes without saying that it does not have the same sound quality as some of the other headsets on this list, but at 1/3 the price, how could it?

What surprised us is that the sound system is very good, even better than A LOT of much more expensive gaming headsets.

Furthermore, this headset is also quite comfortable. This is mostly due to its lightweight design, that does make it a treat to wear. But also makes it feel a bit cheaper than a its big brother when holding it in your hand.

The microphone is nothing spectacular, which is to be expected, but it still tries to reduce background noise, which it does alright. The headset oozes quality, and you can truly feel you got your hands on a premium products when holding this in your hand

The multi-platform feature is always really nice. Being able to swap it between your computer, console and even your phone is always a plus.

4. Turtle Beach Ear Force PX22

Turtle Beach is not known for their PC headsets, but rather their console headsets. However, with the PX22 they managed to make a great multi-purpose headset, Fully functional for PC gaming.

First off, this is a multi-platform headset and works great as just that. However, this is NOT turtlebeach’ best console headset, far from it. it seems like Turtle Beach had clear focus on PC gaming when making the PX22. It simply seems to perform better on a computer, than on a console. For technical reasons, it is hard to make a multi-platform headset that performs outstandingly on both console and computer, so we are really happy that they put their focus on PC gaming.

The PX22 has all the signature Turtle Beach functionality, such as the in-depth audio editor. You can mute, adjust volume, bass, treble, chat and gaming volume separately from the overall audio. This is what we love about Turtle Beach as a brand, the in-depth customization right at your fingertips. So if you are a fan of Turtle Beach headsets IN general, then this is an excellent pick for you. The headset is really high quality, and you can truly feel you got your hands on a premium products when holding this in your hands. This obviously makes it quite high-end in terms of pricing.

5. ASTRO Gaming A40 TR

in terms of sound pure quality and comfort, this headset from Astro is up there with the best. Designed in cooperation with actual pro gamers for perfect competitive sound optimization. All these things make for an excellent gaming headset, but not a cheap one by any means.

New:   The best order to install PC parts

The Astro gaming headset is developed with professional gaming in mind that it pays off! The sound quality is astounding, and even more important, it is precise. With this bad boy, you will never get sneaked up on in Counter Strike ever again. The surround sound is simply excellent at informing you of your enemy’s whereabouts. Which is obviously why it is used at numerous eSports tournaments. It is also extremely adjustable, it literally fits you no matter if you have a very tiny or very large head size. This is due to the slim, lightweight design and the fact that it can be adjusted in every way you see fit.

The headset oozes quality and you can truly feel you got your hands on a premium products when holding this in your hand. This obviously makes it quite high-end in terms of pricing. The only reason that it is not higher on the list is that a little more could be expected from a headset with this kind of the price tag. We feel that the Sennheiser Game One and SteelSeries Artcis is a tiny bit better, at the same cost.

The microphone is among the best we have ever tried on a gaming headset. it effectively removes background noise and has a rock solid build.

in terms of build quality, we are torn. On the one hand, it feels rock solid, like the luxurious product that it is. On the other hand, the pipes that hold the headset together can feel a bit shake after months of use. We never experienced any issue with this, but we have found when researching that occasionally they break off. However, it has to be said that the Astro customer support is excellent and you will find no issue in getting a replacement if anything were to happen.

The premium quality can truly be felt in terms of comfort. It is hands down one of the most comfortable headsets to ever be produced.
