IQUNIX has announced the IQUNIX EV63 EDG Edition, a collaboration with VALORANT team EDward Gaming. The keyboard combines EDG’s black-and-gold branding with a new input timing feature called TSS, developed over five rounds of joint tuning with the team. It is listed as coming soon, with no price or release date confirmed yet.

The EDG Edition follows the EV63 Ghost in the Shell Edition and the IQUNIX EC75, both released earlier this year. It is based on the existing EV63, a 60% wired Hall Effect keyboard that we covered in our IQUNIX EV63 review. According to IQUNIX, the EV63 is used by VALORANT teams EDG, Wolves Esports and MIBR, as well as players and creators including Mixwell, Sacy, TCK10, Grim, Fyr, Subroza and Hiko.

TSS: input timing tuned with EDG

The main functional addition in the IQUNIX EV63 EDG Edition is TSS (Timing Synchronization System). IQUNIX says it was developed based on feedback from EDG players and aligns the keyboard’s input processing with the PC’s USB polling cycle. The stated goal is not lower raw latency but more consistent timing between keypresses, which matters most for stops, direction changes and counter-strafing in tactical shooters.

IQUNIX says the collaboration involved five rounds of joint tuning focused on real gameplay. The driver’s Esports Mode menu also gains a dedicated EDG Mode preset with a 0.05 mm Rapid Trigger setting, listed alongside Tournament (0.1 mm), Esports (0.05 mm), Fury (0.01 mm) and Infinite modes.

HyperCore V3.1 latency figures

The keyboard runs IQUNIX’s latest HyperCore V3.1 firmware. The company has published the following figures from its own testing:

Actuation latency0.29–0.30 ms
Release latency0.26–0.27 ms
Polling rate8,000 Hz (0.125 ms)
Scanning rate16,000 Hz
Rapid Trigger0.01 mm

Release latency is worth highlighting because it affects how quickly a key stops registering once lifted — relevant for Rapid Trigger and counter-strafing. IQUNIX’s materials include a mechanical actuation latency comparison against other popular HE keyboards:

KeyboardActuation latencyRelease latency
IQUNIX EV63 (HyperCore V3.1)0.30 ms0.26 ms
Rakka60 Atlas0.31 ms0.28 ms
NINX NX600.34 ms0.29 ms
iso64lim0.34 ms0.29 ms
Rakka800.35 ms0.29 ms
MCHOSE Ace68 Turbo0.44 ms0.39 ms
Rakka600.45 ms0.40 ms
MelGeek Centauri 600.53 ms0.24 ms
SayoDevice K640.58 ms0.52 ms
MelGeek Centauri 800.64 ms0.29 ms
Wooting 80HE (Tachyon Mode)0.94 ms0.30 ms

In this chart the EV63 has the lowest actuation latency and the best combined result, though the MelGeek Centauri 60 posts a slightly lower release figure (0.24 ms vs 0.26 ms). IQUNIX also cites a separate Hall Effect latency benchmark across fast, medium and slow press speeds, where the EV63 measured 0.308 / 0.525 / 0.900 ms for actuation and 0.291 / 0.424 / 0.571 ms for release. A test video is available. All figures come from IQUNIX’s materials and have not been independently verified by us.

EDG design details

IQUNIX EV63 EDG Edition front view with gold EDG and Enter metal keycaps and EDward Gaming spacebar

The IQUNIX EV63 EDG Edition uses a black-and-gold colorway throughout. The two CNC-machined metal keycaps sit in the Esc position (with the EDG logo) and on Enter, both finished in gold with enamel detailing. The rest of the set uses soft-touch frosted PC keycaps, which let the backlight glow through with a warm gold tint. Other design details include:

  • A “The Champions 2026” commemorative keycap in the Backspace position, marking EDG’s 2026 VCT CN Stage 1 title
  • 2024 World Championship star emblem printed on the front of the case, marking EDG’s VALORANT Champions 2024 win
  • EDward Gaming branding on the spacebar and an EDG logo on the side of the case
  • Gold accents on the side trim of the aluminum case

The packaging leans into the collector angle. The box includes a tray of EDG player cards with dedicated portraits and custom numbering, featuring the team’s 2026 roster including CHICHOO, nobody, ZmjjKK, Smoggy and Jieni7. Each card is paired with a keycap carrying that player’s signature in raised print, so the texture can be felt as well as seen. Standard accessories include a braided USB-C cable, a combined keycap and switch puller, a cleaning brush and a quick start guide.

Magnetic X Ultra switches

IQUNIX Magnetic X Ultra Hall Effect switch with 50% stronger magnetic flux and specifications

The IQUNIX EV63 EDG Edition ships exclusively with Magnetic X Ultra switches, the upgraded option on the standard EV63. IQUNIX describes them as a third-generation in-house Hall Effect design with an oversized magnet that delivers around 50% more magnetic flux than its previous switches. A stronger magnetic field gives the sensor a cleaner signal to work with, which is what makes very fine settings like 0.01 mm Rapid Trigger more reliable.

TypeLinear Hall Effect, semi-silent
Initial force36 ± 10 gf
Bottom-out force48 ± 10 gf
Total travel3.5 ± 0.2 mm
Magnetic flux780 Gs

The switch also uses a split-structure magnetic sleeve for stability and a multi-material housing tuned to be quieter than a typical linear. At 36 gf initial force it sits on the light side, which suits fast tapping and strafing but may feel too easy to actuate for heavy-handed typists.

Gen-3 Hall sensors and Smart Switch Adaptation

Underneath, the EV63 uses IQUNIX’s third-generation Hall sensor PCB. The company claims a 400% wider voltage range compared to its previous sensors, which should improve signal resolution and keystroke stability. Signal processing is handled by what IQUNIX calls its M.A.T. Custom Algorithm 3.0.

HyperCore V3.1 adds Smart Switch Adaptation, which automatically identifies the installed switch and adjusts calibration. IQUNIX says it recognizes 99% of mainstream Hall Effect switches, with one notable exception: side-magnet switches are not supported. For most users this means third-party magnetic switches can be swapped in without manual setup, a convenience that’s still not standard across Hall Effect keyboards.

Gamepad Mode and software

IQUNIX EV web driver features including SOCD 2.0, Pro Keys, Gamepad Mode and EDG Esports Mode

Gamepad Mode maps keys to a virtual controller and translates keypress depth into analog input, so a light press produces a small input and a deeper press a larger one. IQUNIX’s examples focus on racing games, where it allows gradual throttle, braking and steering, as well as variable movement speed in supported titles. The driver includes toggles for square stick output, text input compatibility and deeper press priority.

Configuration is handled through the IQUNIX EV web driver, which can also be opened with the Fn + M shortcut. Alongside Gamepad Mode, it covers:

  • SOCD 2.0 and Pro Keys: Rappy Snappy (RS), Mod Tap (MT), Toggle (TGL), SOCD and DKS
  • Onboard profiles for custom, office and esports setups
  • Esports Mode presets, including the new EDG Mode
  • Professional presets based on pro player settings
  • Lighting presets and a Crosshair Center section

Modding support

The EV63 uses a tray mount design with a standard 60% PCB layout, which IQUNIX says makes it the first keyboard to pair third-generation Hall Effect sensors with standard 60% compatibility. The internals can be moved into common 60% cases such as the Tofu60 (excluding Tofu60 2.0), Holy60 and GH60. The stock build uses an aluminum plate, Poron foam, a PET switch sheet, a Poron bottom layer and a PET case pad.
