GameSir is currently on a roll, releasing controller after controller. GameSir is aiming at two distinct segments of the market with the G7 Pro and the Cyclone 2, both of which features GameSir’s Mag-Res TMR stick technology.
While they might look similar on a spec sheet, these two gamepads are quite different in how they feel and the stuff they can do. Gamesir G7 Pro is more premium, Xbox-licensed controller, designed to compete with the Xbox Elite controller, while the Cyclone 2 is a versatile, multi-platform “budget flagship” that doesn’t compromise on performance.
In this article, we’ll find out whether the G7 Pro is worth the extra $30, or is the Cyclone 2 really all you need.
– Charging Dock included
– Xbox-style shape (wider, flared grips)
– Rubber grips on front and back of handles
– Feels quite comfortable to hold. Distinctly rounder handle
– Trigger stops are on the back shell of the controller, which I find more comfortable to reach
– Shadow Ember
– Mecha White
– Wuchang Edition ($100)
– ZZZ Edition ($130)
– 8K Aimlabs Edition
Compatible with other G7 faceplates (only with cross d-pad)
– No RGB
– Removable top
– No tension adjustment
– Feels excellent, a tad better imo
– Micro-switch trigger stops (satisfying mouse click)
– Less travel in hair trigger mode
– Xbox style Impulse Triggers (trigger vibration motors)
– Feels really good
– Deeper “thocky” sound
– 1 extra pair of shoulder buttons that are nice and clicky
– Prefer this because the actuation takes less force and feels softer
– 3 styles of d-pad included in the box
– Central pivot is kind of loose feeling and there is a significant amount of play out of the box.
– Accuracy is good and performance is good
– Feels tighter, has less play
– feels excellent and sounds crisp
– has a switch to lock these back buttons in place in case you don’t want accidental presses
– easier to accidentally press since they’re lighter and placed right where your finger goes
– Comfortable
– Gyro is 250 Hz polling rate
– 2 Xbox style impulse rumble motors in triggers
– Feels nice and detailed
– 1000hz in wired and 2.4ghz mode, 250hz in Bluetooth mode
– good latency numbers. No qualms in experience

Not compatible with ios, macos, linux.

– Excellent experience. Good amount of customisation
– 8-10 hours

– Comes with 1 month of xbox gamepass ultimate

– Xbox-style shape (wider, flared grips)
– Textured, stippled plastic for grip
– Feels a little more comfortable to hold, due to lighter weight and flatter inner side of the handle
– Trigger stops are on the trigger itself, which I don’t find as comfortable to reach with my large hands
– Shadow Black
– Phantom White
No faceplate or other aesthetic accessories
– Quite nice RGB. Customisable too
– Non removable top
– No tension adjustment
– Also feels excellent
– Micro-switch trigger stops (satisfying mouse click)

– Feels just as good, and feels slightly better in hair trigger mode
– Clickier sound
– Needs slightly more force to actuate.
– No extra d-pads included
– There’s also some play in this d-pad, but not as bad as the G7 Pro
– Accuracy is decent, diagonals are sometimes hard to hit
– Feels great, but has a little play
– sounds a little deeper, but still crisp
– no lock switch
– very difficult to press accidentally
– Sounds a little cheaper due to plastics used. Doesn’t feel bad at all, just sounds a little worse

– No impulse triggers
– Feels good, but less detailed than G7 Pro

– No gamepass
My thoughts on which one to buy…
Both of these Gamesir controllers are excellent. And honestly they both provide a good value too.
By picking the Gamesir Cyclone 2, you won’t be missing out on too much in the performance department. It shares the same excellent DNA as the G7 Pro. It trims off some things, which you can see in the lack of rubber grips or in the cheap feeling cable included in the box. But the controller itself mostly performs on par with the G7 Pro. Especially consider the Macro and Turbo features, which the G7 Pro is lacking.
But this doesn’t mean that the G7 Pro’s $30 higher price doesn’t offer you anything. It adds a lot of features for that price. You get extra bumpers, optical switches, Xbox support, a ton of included and available accessories, and better materials. The Gamepass Ultimate is a bonus.
In conclusion, both are good options. You won’t regret buying either of these controllers. Even if your budget allows buying the G7 Pro, you should consider the Cyclone 2 because of the Turbo and Macro feature. If this isn’t very important to you, and you want the additional features that the G7 Pro provides, you can go for that one.
